Minimum wages:
The National Minimum Wage rate per hour depends on your age and whether you’re an apprentice - you must be at least school leaving age to get it.
Current rate:
for those over 21: £6.31
18 to 20: £5.03
Under 18: £3.72
Apprentice*: £2.68

*This rate is for apprentices under 19 or those in the first year of level 2 or 3 apprenticeships. All other apprentices are entitled to the National Minimum Wage for their age.

Check if you get the national minimum wage.
 
SIM Card:
Having a UK number is like a must, is the easiest way to be contacted, everybody ask your phone number, and if it isn't English they will not call you.
That's why on your CV you have to insert your UK number: get a free SIM online is the easiest way.
Just choose your company, register on their website and they will send you home you sim card for free; or, go to one “off license” and buy it there for 1£.

Getting around London:

If you don't travel a lot, Oyster card as pay as you go is the cheapest way to getting around.

the card cost 5£ deposit, once topped up, you just have to touch in and touch out when you travel (for buses and tram only touch in).
